FAQ

How different is GHG Specialist Program from ISO14064?
With the introduction of Carbon Pricing in Singapore, taxable and reportable facilities are required to report their GHG emissions to the National Environment Agency (NEA) annually. The GHG Specialist Program helps Energy Managers or GHG Managers understand the key considerations of climate change, GHG calculation methodologies and reporting requirements, paying specific attention to the requirements of Carbon Pricing and NEA’s reporting framework. The course includes the awareness session on ISO 14064-1.

I am not an energy manager, can I still take this workshop?
This workshop is designed for all professionals who seek in-depth understanding of GHG emissions and calculation methodologies and is not restricted to energy managers. This could be engineers, managers who manage manufacturing facilities or building facilities, or consultants etc.

This course is also suited for professionals who would like to use GHG measurement knowledge to compute emissions for their Sustainability Report.

Are there any requirements for GHG Specialist Program?

No prior experience is required.

What is the assessment like?
At the end of the program, there will be an open-book classroom assessment. Candidates will have to pass an examination on reporting requirements for GHG emissions and perform calculation exercises given mock scenarios. There will be multiple exercises during the workshop to prepare candidates adequately for the examination and candidates will be allowed to refer to classroom materials during the assessment.

What kind of certificate will I be issued at the end of the course?
Candidates who complete the workshop and pass the examination will receive a GHG Management Specialist Program certificate of achievement jointly awarded by SEAS and EY.

What type of job roles can I fulfill after completing this course?
The course helps in developing in-depth understanding of GHG calculation methodology. Professionals could build their career as GHG Managers, consultants, Sustainability Manager, etc. equipped with technical skills and competencies needed to advise, manage and track GHG emissions.

Is the certificate recognized locally and internationally?
The certificate of achievement on successful completion of the course is awarded by SEAS, one of the leading and recognized association in Singapore and the region, and EY, a leading global sustainability advisory firm.

Upon completing this course and obtained GHG certificate, am I a qualified GHG Manager?
After successful completion of the course, candidates are equipped with the knowledge to conduct GHG emissions computation and GHG accounting. As per the NEA guidelines, the taxable facilities is responsible for appointing its GHG Manager, justifying and providing evidence to NEA that the appointed individual has the required qualifications, knowledge or experience to properly carry out the duties of a GHG Manager. NEA will be the final approving authority on the appointment of a GHG Manager.
