| Description: | Expressions of interest : Consultant for Railway Infrastructure Asset Management Expert (Support Consultant) Transport is one of the largest lending sectors in the asian development bank (adb), with a portfolio of over us$4 billion per annum. asia and the pacific region are experiencing an unprecedented growth and rapid urbanization that created a predicament in transport. in 2022, the asian development bank (adb) approved transport sector directional guide (tsdg), aligned with the adb strategy 2030 to address the unprecedented growth and rapid urbanization that created a predicament in the transport system in asia and the pacific region. there is an urgent need to address this challenging issue, specifically in the developing member countries (dmcs), and align the interventions with adbs long-term strategic framework (strategy 2030). sustainable urban mobility is a growing area for adb, and requires upstream dialogue, adequate planning, programmatic approach, sound project preparation and often requires reforms to ensure smooth transition. improving mobility conditions and meeting the objectives of the international agreements such as the sustainable development goals and the paris agreement also requires knowledge and sound coordination among partners. knowledge sharing and coordination of sustainable transport activities underpin effective implementation of the tsdg. other than sound planning, conceptual design and project preparation, developing and sharing knowledge events and products that raise awareness of the impacts and the potential benefits from sustainable transport with key stakeholders within and outside of adb is a critical activity that will galvanize support for alternative and innovative interventions. The consultant, in coordination with the lead expert, will be responsible in coordinating a series of training courses in different developing countries in asia during the years of 2023 to 2025. this includes the preparation of training materials, delivering the lecture, moderating discussion, organizing and facilitating related field trips, and preparing a completion report. additionally, the consultant shall work under the supervision of the lead consultant in the two implementation support pilot for selected countries to put the railway infrastructure asset management into practice. the consultant will also participate in related key knowledge events organized by adb, such as the adb transport forum 2024.
