Facts & Figures

Floating solar or floating photovoltaics (FPV) has been lately considered as the third pillar of the solar photovoltaic industry, after ground-mounted and rooftop applications.

The floating solar market can be segmented into different project categories, depending upon the water body application and site conditions, which might require different designs and specifications.

Floating 1.0
Static freshwater bodies – no wave

Floating 2.0
Large freshwater bodies with inflow (e.g. hydropower dams) – small to medium wave

Floating 3.0
Near-shore seawater (harbours, estuaries, ports, coastline) – medium wave

Floating 4.0
Offshore seawater – high wave
