Overview

 

A SCEM is envisioned as a competent energy professional equipped and qualified to perform technical and managerial functions in the areas of:

  • Energy audits, management and measurements
  • Energy retrofitting services
  • Financial advisor for energy efficiency measures and contracting
  • Consultation and Procurement services
  • Facility and energy management
  • Energy engineering works

The Singapore Certified Energy Manager supports the Energy Conservation Act as the interface between the company and National Environment Agency (NEA).

The Energy Conservation Act mandates energy efficiency requirements and energy management practices to promote energy conservation, improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact, and to make consequential and related amendments to certain other written laws.

Introduction
The Singapore Certified Energy Manager programme is designed for engineering professionals who intend to build their career as energy managers. It gives a thorough understanding of key energy issues either in the building or industry sector. The Singapore Certified Energy Manager course will help participants develop the technical skills and competencies to manage and track energy usage within organisations.

This course is suitable for engineering personnel who want to discover relevant skills in the energy industry. Singapore Certified Energy Manager programme provides a thorough and comprehensive understanding of critical energy issues in the energy and building sector. It gives them a leg up and helps them accelerate their career.

Programme Objective
The SEAS Singapore Certified Energy Manager programme seeks to help engineering professionals accelerate in their career by giving them extra insight and training in energy engineering as well as management.

A competent energy professional has to be equipped and qualified to perform technical and managerial functions in the areas of:

  • Energy audits, management and measurements
  • Energy retrofitting services
  • Financial advisor for energy efficiency measures and contracting
  • Consultation and procurement services
  • Facility and energy management
  • Energy engineering works

Each individual undertakes 4 core modules and 2 elective modules, pass the respective examinations and acquire relevant working experience to qualify for the Singapore Certified Energy Manager certification. The course will also incorporate both classroom-style learning as well as hands-on exercises.

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive Singapore Certified Energy Manager certification from the SEAS.

(e.g. facilities / process engineer, M&E engineer, working in an ESCO)

SCEM Training
Professional IES Recognised Engineering Degree

  • Pass 4 core modules and 2 elective modules within 3 years

  • Apply for SCEM certification within 5 years from the date the applicants pass the last training module
Engineering diploma issued by local polytechnics or the Building & Construction Authority Academy Required 5 years

  • Hold a managerial position
  • Candidate must first pass an interview with the SCEM Registry Committee before attempting the SCEM exam
  • Pass 4 core modules and 2 elective modules within 3 years
  • Apply for SCEM certification within 5 years from the date the applicants pass the last training module
Fees

Total course fees: $5,500 (before GST and any subsidy)

As of 2023, our SCEM Professional Programme is supported by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Funding of up to 70% for Company-sponsored and Self-sponsored Individuals who are Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents.

 Copy of participant’s CV stating in detail about his/her job scope in order to assess if they could meet the 2-year relevant engineering experience requirement in energy management of facilities.
