WSQ Perform Design and Installation of PV Systems and WSQ Perform Maintenance of PV Systems (5th Run)

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system is a national framework developed by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the industries for adult workers to increase their competency and add value to the industries by taking up continuing education and training modules. WSQ caters to adult workers and aims to make skills upgrading accessible to the workforce as well as assist them in the advancement and development of their career. SEAS is accredited by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) to conduct two WSQ modules, "Perform Design and Installation of Photovoltaic Systems" and "Perform Maintenance of Photovoltaic Systems". SEAS will be offering these two modules as a single programme, with WDA funding available, and the candidate will only need to take integrated assessment to achieve 2 Statement of Attainment (SOAs).

Trainer's Profile:

Geoff Stapleton specialised in solar (PV) energy in the final year of his electrical engineering degree in 1981. He has worked in the industry since 1987 when he started as an engineer with BP Solar Australia. In 1989 he started his own design and installation company on the south coast of NSW where he sold, designed, installed and maintained many systems. In the mid 1990's he acted as a full time consultant for Integral Energy (electricity distributor) where he was involved with the installation of the first grid connect system in the state and also the first grid connect promotional program in Australia. In 1998 he co-founded Global Sustainable Energy Solutions Pty Ltd (GSES) a training and consultancy company. Over the last 13 years, GSES has undertaken projects in Africa, Asia and the Pacific islands. GSES is a private training organisation which has developed many training develops resource books for the industry in Australia and overseas. Geoff has conducted training courses in Sri Lanka, Ghana, Malaysia, Philippines, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. Geoff is a part time senior lecturer at the School of PV and RE engineering at the University of New South Wales, UNSW. Geoff has been active with the various industry associations since 1991 and is the current chair of the Clean Energy Council's Standards, Training and Accreditation Committee (STA) and member on Standards Australia RE committee, the Advisory Committee for EE-Oz (Electro Technology Industry Training Advisory Body) and Chair of the ISP Board (International RE/EE training accrediting body).
