Got a photo that could help reverse climate change?

Eco-Business has launched a photography competition to find images that capture the way climate change is changing lives and landscapes in communities around the world.

Just like ‘Napalm Girl’, the photo said to have prompted the end of the Vietnam war, Eco-Business is looking for an equally powerful image that symbolises the urgent need to confront climate change.

“We are on the hunt for photographs—photographs that will help make the penny drop on the urgency to address this issue, photographs that inspire change,” said Jessica Cheam, founder and managing editor of Eco-Business.

The Climate Photo Challenge is part of Eco-Business’ Changing Course campaign launched at the start of the ClimateForce: Antarctica 2018 expedition led by Robert Swan, a renowned British environmentalist and explorer who was the first man to walk to both North and South Poles.

Cheam was part of a 14-day expedition to Antarctica—held from 26 February to 14 March—which aimed to raise awareness of the global climate crisis and the need to shift to more sustainable ways of living.

As well as the photo challenge, Eco-Business is also hosting an Instagram competition for people aged 25 and below. Participants have been tasked to like Eco-Business on Instagram and post their photo publicly on their Instagram account with the hashtag #changingcourse.

Three winners each from the photography and Instagram competition will be selected. These photos will be exhibited at the Changing Course exhibition at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, from 1 June to 12 July 2018.

The winner of first prize will be rewarded with an eco-resort holiday experience at Anantara Peace Haven, Tangalle, Sri Lanka.

Judges for the competition include former National Geographic Traveler Magazine photographer Kris LeBoutillier, Sony South East Asia’s head of Interchangeable Lens Camera Marketing Department Kazuhito Takata, and Eco-Business’ Jessica Cheam.

The deadline for the contest is 11:59 pm, 10 May, 2018.
