be reduced by 80% by mid-century to stabilise the climate at a level wh=
ich allow our economies to develop sustainbly. Since 2005, the Untied N=
ation's Kyoto Protocol has set the scene for global greenhouse gas redu=
ctions. The Copenhagen Accord (signed in Secember 2009) succeeds the Ky=
oto Protocol=C2=A0post 2012, and while it is not long on detail, it is =
clear on the intent of the international=C2=A0community to develop fina=
ncing mechanisms to reduce global GHG emissions and the=C2=A0impacts of=
climate change.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ASingapore has a strategy to become Asia's hub for carbon trading - an indus=
try valued at $120 billion last year - which is set to grow substantial=
ly when the provisions of the Copenhagen Accord are translated into car=
bon taxes, cap and trade schemes, and direct regulation to control emis=

understand=C2=A0and reduce their carbon footprint whilst growing profit=
