Finance
In 2007 USD 148bn were invested in clean energy and Clean Energy accounted for 19% of global energy infrastructure investments. Investment in solar sector has grown at an annualized rate of 254% over last four years. Even in a difficult area for investors like energy efficiency investment amounts are growing at a annual rate of 65% over last four years.
There are also challenges for Clean energy Finance like the High Cost of renewable energy technologies & Relevant and consistent public policy. Another big issue is subsidising of fossil fuels in many countries and thus leading to market distortions and artificially low prices.
In order to address all these issues SEAS set up a finance subcommittee that works in this area to connect projects with capital using tools like investment forums, informational seminars as well as business matching programs.
